Diabetic patients were subdivided according to the mode of therapy, age, sex and duration of diabetes. All data were processed by discriminant analysis. Our results show that nerve conduction studies can discriminate between patients with non-neuropathic diabetes, patients with neuropathic diabetes and controls. The nerve conduction studies could also discriminate patients as to the duration of diabetes (less than ten years compared to more than ten years). Sex, age or mode of therapy did not influence the results of conduction studies.
