Surface electromyography and torque were measured from knee flexors and extensors in 12 control subjects aged 25-59 years and bilaterally in 12 stroke subjects aged 27-75 years with hemiparesis and mild clinical spasticity. They performed isometric and isokinetic maximal voluntary contractions and also isokinetic passive movements at angular velocities from 30 to 300°/s. The time taken to walk
10 m was documented.
