Polycentric joints feature more than one stationary center of rotation. Such joint systems are designed to provide an instant center of rotation (ICR) which varies in its placement depending on the degree of joint flexion. Connecting the multitude of ICR's provides a curve which is called the centrode. The following article will discuss their prosthetic applications and provide a few samples.
