Knowledge of the forces and pressures under the foot is important in the assessment of foot pathology. Several techniques and systems for taking such measurments have been reported and much attention has been devoted to the evaluation of the accuracy of these systems. The type of system discussed in this work is the FSCAN (Tekscan) in-shoe pressure measurement. Large errors due to electromechanical effects on the output of the system raise serious questions about the reliability of this system, but valuable information such as pressure pattern recognition can still be obtained within the limitations of the system
