We analyzed clinical characteristics and platelet biomarkers in 88 patients with congestive heart failure treated with antecedent aspirin. The incidence of aspirin resistance was very high (57%). Until definitive clinical trials are completed, physicians should be aware of the high rate of aspirin resistance in patients with heart failure and consider clopidogrel in high-risk patients or when thromboembolism occurs despite the administration of aspirin.
