Palmar dislocation of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the long finger is a rare
injury. The authors report a case of palmar dislocation of the
metacarpophalangeal joint of the ring finger. The presumed mechanism is a
combination of active flexion and forceful hyperextension. The dislocation was
treated successfully by closed reduction shortly after injury. Closed reduction
should be attempted in all cases of this injury.
