Outcomes assessment is becoming increasingly prevalent in healthcare. Many assessment measures involve timed ambulatory events and have been validated among those patient populations most commonly encountered in orthotic and prosthetic rehabilitation. These assessments are described, and the ranges of probable performance values across several patient populations are presented. The populations of cerebral vascular accident, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, lower extremity amputation, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, post polio and peripheral neuropathy are then treated individually, with summaries of current reliability findings and other considerations
