Car driving during the rehabilitation period following a stroke or traumatic head injury requires a preliminary detailed neuropsychological evaluation. We have carried out such an evaluation on 24 patients - 18 with a stroke and 6 with head injury -. Data suggest that the tests that were used are significantly sensitive and have sufficient predictive value regarding fitness to drive. This battery of psychometric tests was shown to be simple, rapidly administered, and permitted to select among the volunteers the candidates for in-vehicle assessment.
