Risk factors associated with the development of plantar heel pain in athletes

A cross sectional design was used to calculate prevalence rates and the association of risk factors with plantar heel pain (PHP). One hundred and sixty-six subjects were assessed. A prevalence rate of 21.7 % was determined. Recommendations include regular clinical evaluation of athletes with a history of PHP to prevent reoccurrence.
