Complex balance reactions in different sensory conditions : adolescents with and without idiopathic scoliosis

J ORTHOP RES , 1993, n° 11, p. 215-227 Doc n°: 62730 Localisation : Documentation IRR Descripteurs : DF11 - POSTURE. STATION DEBOUT We measured simple and complex balance responses with a force plate stabiliometer in 70 adolescents : 50 with idiopathic scoliosis and 20 controls. The findings suggest that adolescents with IS have normal balance in static, stable positions but are not able to perform as well as normal adolescents in sensory-challenged positions, particularly if they have a severe progressive curve. Longitudinal studies are needed to determine wether balance dysfunction can be used to predict progression of the curve. Langue : ANGLAIS Tiré à part : OUI Identifiant basis : 1993001600 |
