The diagnosis and conservative therapy of discogenic diseases of the lumbar spine. Due to the number of cases, discogenic diseases occupy an outstanding position in clinical and practical orthopaedics. Differences between radicular and so-called pseudoradicular leg pain call for various methods of treatment. The majority of the discogenic complaints can be treated well with a conservative therapy. Different methods of lumbar decompression and indication for as well as technique of various injections are described with regard to clinical points of view. Various physiotherapeutic exercises for prophylaxis are mentionned.
