Physical activity and the prevention of stroke
WANNAMETHEE G; SHAPER AG
J CARDIOVASC RISK , 1999, n° 6, p. 213-216 Doc n°: 95728 Localisation : Documentation IRR Descripteurs : AF21 - ACCIDENTS VASCULAIRES CEREBRAUX Most prospective studies have shown physical activity to be associated with a reduced risk of stroke. The results of existing studies suggest that this benefit is seen in both men and women, in younger and older subjects and in subjects with and without pre-existing coronary heart disease. Sporting (vigorous) activity does not appear to be essential to achieve this benefit. Moderate levels of physical activity may be sufficient to achieve a significant reduction in stroke risk and overall cardiovascular risk.
