We report of three patients who sustained ankle sprains complicated by common peroneal nerve palsy. All three patients recovered completely after surgical exploration of the nerve with section of the tendinous arch of the peroneus longus muscle. A traction compression mechanism may explain this neuropathy. Eleven previous cases of this complication have been published in the English literature.
